CHASING THE LOVELY (A BLOGIVERSARY GIVEAWAY)!

I can’t quite believe it’s July already. Not only that, but I can’t believe that on the 28th July it will be a whole year since I started my blogging journey! Time has absolutely flown – which just goes to show that time really does fly when you’re having fun!

Seriously though, I don’t know how I ever lived outside of blogland…such a wonderful place, filled with creative souls, passion aplenty and opportunities galore. A beautiful blog friend of mine, Florentina, calls herself “the girl saved by the blog”. I think we must be “blog soul mates” as I believe I too have been “saved by the blog”.

Ever since my Breast Cancer diagnosis in 2009, my focus has been on chasing the lovely in life. There is enough of the “unlovely” to deal with throughout our lives, so why dwell on those things when we don’t have to? As much as I can, I’ve chosen to dwell on the beautiful, the delightful and the harmonious, which has been a wonderful aid in my healing; not only physically, but spiritually and emotionally as well. I’m determined to reach for the stars in all aspects of my life, now that I truly believe that all things are possible!

Who knows what the future holds for me?

My faith certainly tells me that I’ve been created for a purpose. Is writing this blog part of my purpose? Yes, I think it is. Does writing this blog bring me joy? Yes, it really does. Will I be blogging forever? Well, my hope is that I live to a ripe old age and am able to continue using my mind, heart and hands for the many purposes in my life, one of which is writing.

Having said all that, I now need to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you – those I know are reading my blog and those I don’t. It means the world to me that you would take time out of your busy lives to read what little old me has to say! Thank you for being part of my healing journey. Thank you that so many of you have been my greatest encouragers. Thank you for making it so easy to “catch” the lovely and my “chasing” after it hasn’t been in vain!

Now to celebrate my joyous Blogiversary, I’m so excited to announce my very first GIVEAWAY!

After a year of “Life’s like a Cupcake!” I now have a reputation for loving all things cupcake and food-related. It makes my day whenever I get a random cupcake photo sent to me on my mobile, or an email letting me in on a new recipe. It’s nice that people think of me whenever they see something sweet or delicious! So you can imagine my delight when I was recently given the opportunity to review the “Little Kitchen Hands” pack from the Reckitt Benckiser and Dettol “Mission for Health” campaign!

As you know, I love to bake healthy treats for my family, particularly on the school holidays when I bake with my daughter (and my son gets to lick the bowl and spoon before we wash up!) So I was very pleased when my product pack arrived just in time for our holiday baking. What the kids were really excited about though, was that they were finally getting the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System they’d been pestering me about for weeks!

I was going to buy it for them, but I just hadn’t got around to it yet. After all, I’m one of those ~~neurotic~~ health-conscious Mums, who is forever pulling out the hand sanitiser in public to ~~embarrass my kids~~ kill any germs that may have clung to my kids, and forever spraying Glen 20 around the house ~~to kill all that nasty bacteria~~ because I love the smell. So as soon as I opened the box I had two volunteers to set up the Hand Wash System on my kitchen bench, ready to go!

This pack literally put me in “health heaven”. Not only could I continue my battle against bacteria (particularly in winter when the cold and cough germs are lurking en masse), but I could also ensure my kids were going to be eating healthy treats over the coming days. Just look at the size of that box…

Here is a list of exactly what we unpacked. (It was like an early Christmas present):

· Mixing bowl

· Cookie sheets

· Kitchen scales

· Cookie jar filled with cookies

· $50 grocery gift card to purchase our desired ingredients

· Mum plus child rolling pins

· Child apron and chef hat pack

· Mum chef hat and apron

· Decorating supplies – amazing edible glitter, letters of the alphabet etc

· Handy wipe-clean recipe cards (with a variety of deliciously healthy recipes)

· Dettol Surface Cleanser Trigger & Wipes

· Dettol No-Touch Stainless Steel look handwash system

· Dettol 50ml Instant Hand Sanitiser

· Glen 20 spray disinfectant

· Pine-O-Cleen Wipes and Trigger

The baking team consisted of myself and my beautiful daughter and niece. Once the box was all unpacked, we got straight into it…aprons and hats on, hands and benches sanitised and dance moves down pat!

The actual baking was great fun too…

And the end result was fun and colourfully delicious…

We had such a great time that the very next day, we organised another little helper (our gorgeous friend Georgie) to come over to make another batch of cookies…
