My Road to Paris
In April 2012, I will be embarking on an epic fundraising adventure – Marathon de Paris. This challenge is on behalf of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, an organisation that works to raise funds for breast cancer research. The reason I have chosen to undertake this challenge is that being a breast cancer survivor myself, it is research that gives me hope for the future.
As part of Team Pink, myself and the 4 other team members will need to get very fit to cope with all a marathon entails. However, I also see it as an opportunity to do something worthwhile for an organisation for which I have great respect. We’re hoping to raise over $50,000 as a team for NBCF from this event.
You, my treasured readers who have been reading my blog right from the beginning, know that this has been a dream of mine – to participate in a marathon for charity AND to go to Paris! What an amazing opportunity to fulfil both dreams at once. I first wrote about a marathon challenge back in August 2010 in a post called Running the Race, and reminded you that I was Still Running the Race in my last post! And exactly one year before I will be in Paris for the marathon, I was wishing I was there when I wrote a post called She Who Sparkles!
So I’m off to “gay Paree” and have pledged to raise a minimum $10,000 for NBCF. But I need your help to reach my target. If you’re able to support me with a tax-deductible donation, it would be greatly appreciated, and will bring me much closer to reaching my goal. Please visit my Everyday Hero fundraising page to donate. (You can also click on the cute “sponsor me” widget on the right). You’ll notice that some gorgeous person has already donated $100…that was my husband!!! He wanted to be my first supporter – but of course, he already was!
I am also endeavouring to raise my travel costs, which will total approximately $3,831. If you are able to help with a non tax-deductible donation towards this, please contact me by e-mail info@jenniferreid.com.au.
It would be wonderful if you could spread the word to your friends and family, neighbours, employers, anyone who will listen 🙂 This marathon is not just about me, but about all those suffering from breast cancer right now, those who’ve fought it and won, those who have sadly lost the battle, all the loved ones out there, and those yet to be diagnosed….imagine a world where breast cancer was a thing of the past? That’s my dream and my hope!
Thank you for your support, and I look forward to sharing My Road to Paris with you!
