Brave Lion by Jennifer Reid

With many a health challenge over the last 10 years, I’ve managed to stay positive by having a goal or dream on the go most of the time. It makes the hardest of days more bearable when you have something to hope for. Just as art has been my therapy, so has dreaming and planning for the future.

Sometimes when my dreams and plans don’t come to fruition as quickly as I’d like though, I can get a little frustrated. To combat this, I need to remind myself it’s okay to slow down. Even if I only do ONE thing each day towards reaching my goals, that’s an achievement in itself.

I love this quote…

“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together,” Vincent Van Gogh.

If it was okay for Vincent to do a little bit at a time, then it’s certainly okay for me!

So I’m focusing on the importance of nourishing my creativity with small things daily …like enjoying a vase of fresh flowers on my kitchen bench, making a pot of tea just for me and drinking from a gorgeous teacup, sitting in the sunshine with a good book or getting my paints out to create something totally bold, strong and courageous…

Take my ‘Brave Lion’ for example – I’m not sure if he’s finished yet (I’ll see how I feel about him in a couple of days) – but he’s definitely bold, strong and courageous…all the things I strive to be!

What about you… how do you nourish your creativity?
